Year 2 Class News

The Year 2s have been very busy this term!

In Writing, we have been working on creating narratives. Our most recent narrative is titled ‘The Chase’. We created a story that involved an exciting chase scene. We focused on describing what characters could hear, see and feel when being chased.

In Design and Technology, we have been designing and building things using recyclable materials. We planned our creation first and then made it using the materials we had collected. At the end of the process, we reflected on what we had achieved. We have made a boat and slide and are very proud of our creations.

In Health, we have been learning about pedestrian safety and bike safety and the importance of keeping safe when on the road.

Year 5 RE News

This term in Year 5, we have been learning about the Holy Spirit. We have looked at the signs and symbols of the Holy Spirit. We have learnt how the Fruits of the Holy Spirit can guide and strengthen us, as the Fruits guided and strengthened Saint Stephen the Martyr and Saint Oscar Romero.

Year 6 Class News

This week the Year 6 classes hosted the annual St Anthony’s mini-fete.  All planning and setup was completed by the Year 6 students, and classes from Pre-Primary to Year 5 were invited to attend.  All the students had a great time and the graduating class learned a lot of valuable lessons on teamwork and event planning.

Year 1 RE News

In Year One, we have been talking about all of the things that makes us a good friend and why our friends are special. We learnt about Jesus’ friend Zacchaeus, who was a tax collector. Jesus forgave Zacchaeus for all of the wrong things he had done.  We created pictures of Zacchaeus climbing the tree to see Jesus.

Pre-Primary Class News

The Pre-Primary students have had an exciting start to the term.  In support of “National Simultaneous Story Time,” Pre Primary and Kindy students walked to Wanneroo Library and listened to “Alpacas with Maracas.” We also had a surprise visit from Rosie, an alpaca from Guilderton.  Our students had the opportunity to pat Rosie and ask her carer some very relevant questions about alpacas.
The Colour Fun Run was also a big hit with everyone in Pre-Primary. It was wonderful to see them encouraging and reassuring their peers that it didn’t matter if you got paint on your clothes or hair! Well done Pre-Primary!

Year 2 RE News

In Religious Education, the Year 2 students have been identifying ways family members and people show love towards each other.  We read, wrote and drew pictures of the Bible story 'Jesus and the Temple'.  Students shared times when they found themselves strengthened by the Holy Spirit to love, when this may have been hard.  This led to a brief discussion on the Sacrament of Confirmation.

Year 3 Class News

This term, the Year 3 students have been busy preparing for the Australia wide NAPLAN testing. This year, for the first time at St Anthony’s School, the Year 3 students took part in three sections of the testing online, which went very smoothly.

At the beginning of the term in HASS, we spent some time learning about ANZAC Day and how it is important to remember all those men and women who have served their country during war times.

This week in Health, we watched the movie Inside Out and then had a visit from Mrs Peart, our school social worker. She has started discussing with us the different types of emotions we can have and the zones of regulation. We are looking forward to learning more about this in the coming weeks.

Below are some of the pictures we completed for ANZAC Day.

Year 6 RE News

This term we are focusing on our preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation. We have learnt that being marked with the sign of the cross at Confirmation, as we were marked at Baptism, reminds us of our christian identity, our call to mission and our invitation to be the presence of Jesus in the world by:
• being true witnesses of Jesus;
• spreading and defending the faith by word and deed.

Year 5 Class News

This term, the Year 5 students have been busy preparing for the NAPLAN, looking at the Confirmation unit in RE, practising for the interschool carnival and eagerly diving into their Roald Dahl novels of Matilda (5B) and The Witches (5G). The children relaxed on the Monday before the NAPLAN by watching a video, enjoying a cookie treat, playing with their “NAPLAN Survival Kits” and analysing their novels. Below are some pictures of these activities.
