Term 3 saw a busy start for the Year 5s! Within the first two weeks of term we have had our Year 5 Assembly, preparation for the Bishop’s Religion Literacy Assessment, an excursion to the Wanneroo Library for a writing workshop with Meg McKinley who is a Perth children’s author and an excursion to the Fremantle Prison and the Round House as part of our HASS Program.
For our writing workshop, Meg started us on our stories which we are to complete in class and forward them to her to be collated into a class book of stories. Our Fremantle excursion introduced us to convict life in the 1800s, the punishment received by the wayward convicts (cat-of-nine-tails), a look at Moondyne’s cell, and the stories of how he escaped. Although our excursion ended with a thorough drenching as the skies opened up to torrential rains, we enjoyed ourselves.
